The last time I went inside the Malcolm Theater, of the College of Law, was during a college freshmen orientation with my block.
Now I came back for my blog. ( just a few adjustments there with the alphabets -on my intent and purpose. ) I did come back for an orientation though, but this time with iBlog10.
iBlog10 went for two days at the U.P. College of Law but my schedule permitted me to attend, on the second day. ( April 5, 2014 )
I look forward to events of this kind. In iBlog10, the topics tackled were exactly all the questions that a mommy/woman/she/it/domesticgoddess/darna/yaya/all-around/filipina/coffeeface blogger like myself, needed to know.
My goal of strengthening my on-line presence and my first-time-in-attendance at iBlog10, speak volumes of how I am as a blogger. ( the living under a rock sort, while on the planet that is the 3rd rock from the sun.)
So after Mr. Jason Bagio shared his SEO-speak, I felt so brilliant in a, “are you smarter than a fifth grader or kakasa ka ba sa grade 5″ kind of way.
I had nothing to say and nothing to ask, I was mum, more than being mom, during the event. I learned a lot from the iblog participants since their questions were questions, I would have never asked, in my not so intellectual capacity as an internet user.
I learned from the questions asked by the young ones, whose knowledge of the internet, overwhelms, if not terrifies me. I see my son’s future.
Thank you bright and young minds.
( they-were-new-kids-on-the-blog, with very successful blogs, mind you.)
It was in fact already iblog10 and it was my first time to attend. If iblog was an individual, I have missed an entire childhood, milestones and all.
I also was with an entourage of youngsters, though. My youngest sister, a law student in that college, and my son together with my husband, patiently waited for me outside the theater.
I do want to be relevant and significant as a blogger, like one speaker during the event, Dr. Bien Nillos. I already had high expectations, even before the good doctor spoke.
His ” doctor to the barrios” credential preceded him. I knew that the person, standing before us, had rich experiences, to share with the audience. True enough, his talk was awe-inspiring. Even a life on a cruise and a piña colada in hand, did not stop him from going back to the barrios.
( I do feel ashamed for myself of course, for given the exact situation – it would be the piña colada, hands down, then, botox. )
Plus, I totally agree with him, when he said that with the availability, of knowledge in the internet, patients today know so much, too much, about their sickness, when they come visiting.
( I am that patient, “in most patients today”.)
Special citation also goes to the podium, for having concealed the doctor’s greatest ambition. Besides with an advocacy like that of Dr Bien, becoming a hunk is immaterial, don’t you think so?
In iblog10, I acquired a particular knowledge. Through Mr. Howie Severino of GMA 7, a word was reborn in my eyes.
Kuryente, or nakuryente , according to Mr. Howie Severino , in journalism jargon, is getting the wrong information and passing it on, to the public.
Last time I checked, this word had something to do with “mataas na singil” . So, I welcome this new definition in my mind. Something new, at least for me.
Besides, another nakuryente that I know of, was when I first met my husband. (nuong mga panahon na siya ay dumada moves)
This brings me back to another word, which is garnish. In my life as a mom, I thought, it only had to do with cooking. Till one day, Manny Pacquiao uttered it. So today, I know my garnish from that of Kim Henares‘, Manny’s and my recipe book. And after iblog10, my kuryente -from that of Meralco’s.
