Few years back, when my husband and I had the chance to throw a birthday party for our then one year old son, we were elated. It was pure joy when everyone participated and shared in the happiness.
Today, between me and my son, I am the most excited when receiving invites for children’s parties. I am also the most disappointed, when suddenly, something comes up, and we would not be able to make it. Disappointment that would obviously show on my face, as my son would say, “Okay lang yan, there will be other birthday parties, right mom?”
“No, it is not all right,” then I put on a tantrum. Nah, it is just I look forward to attending children’s parties. I even prepare for it. I am one of the most prepared guest in a children’s party:
1. I ask around for costumes related to the party theme, right after receiving the invite.
2. I do bring extra water, because for some reason, it is always the beverage that runs out first, in parties.
3. I bring my large eco bag, -to stash whatever treats my son might get.
4. I necessarily push my son to join the games. ( all right, encourage)
5. I am always in my most comfortable attire like jeans and flats, because I assume I get called to join games. If I don’t get called, I volunteer. ( something that my husband and I share in common)
6. Although the ” bring me “ type of games is passé in parties nowadays, I make a mental note on bringing what the host might ask during the game, like, my lip balm, atms, credit cards and old coins.
7. I tell my husband and son to always wear the newly bought socks, -just in case they will be asked to play the shoe game.
8. I also make sure my son had eaten a bit already, before leaving the house. He just is that child, who gets too distracted with everything else, so that he never finishes his meal during parties.
I guess when I was younger I did not get to be invited to children’s parties, like kids nowadays. Or like my son, who gets invited to parties every other weekend. In my time, there was not much of these children’s parties going on. (or not that I know of)
Perhaps it is because today, so many party services are offered while many fun-filled DIY ideas are floating around. Therefore organizing parties are not as tedious and challenging as it was before. The child in me had never gotten over children’s parties.
I love going to children’s parties because I look forward to:
the food, the give aways, the games,
the entertainer,
the party host,
and the Jollibee or Mc Donald’s mascots.
And sometimes when we were lucky, cool personalities, who obliged our starstruck selves, for pictures.
Children’s parties are for everyone, especially people like me who will never outgrow them. I thank those people who invite us, it means so much to my son. ( all right, all right, to me)
Thank you for inviting us always, till the next!
Me too,i love going to children parties..kaya lang habang lumalaki si Daena minsan ayaw nyang pumupunta..kasi pambata daw..She grows too fast, baka next day paggising ko may dalaga na ako.hays
hahahaha…hindi ko matatanggap yan pag sinabi ni Rafa , let us not nalang mom…I tell him, ok you go to the mall, I will attend the party!
Me too! I love going to children’s parties! My son just recently turned 2 and he’s more appreciative of everything around him especially parties! Sometimes, he has more fun than the birthday celebrant! (Or so I think! haha…. especially if it’s a Jollibee party!) But yes, whenever there’s a party invite, I try to fix everything (as much as possible) to be able for my son to enjoy it! It’s a nice post! I could relate to some of your preps! haha 🙂
Hi Chinky! awwww, just like your two year old, I love Jollibee parties too…I love their loot bags, hahahaha especially when the host would include coupons that we could use for the following days 😉
Diba dapat laging handa? I always make a fuss when we prepare for a party…I even get pressured when the party has a theme and my son would be needing a costume…hahaha! “kina-kareer ko”.
