I Love Romantic Tagalog Movies

I Love Romantic Tagalog Movies

  1. The first tagalog movies I watched were P.S. I Love You, My Only Love and Dear Heart . From then on, I was hooked.

(while my mom was my movie date)

2. Next there was Trixie, Cindy and Billy in my childhood .

( My Only Love )

Later on, there is Miggy and Laida in my adulthood.

3. Meanwhile, there will always be THAT line and THAT exchange of words.

tagalog movies

” You are my real number 1…”
” Billy naman ayoko nga ng number 1, siempre pag may number 1, mayroon ding number 2, may number 3, may number 4….I won’t settle for number 1
” Eh ano talaga ang gusto mo…tell me my love?”
” Your only one.”

” Yes, kaibigan mo ko … kaibigan mo LANG ako … And that’s all I ever was to you Ned – your best friend. “

” Trust, Big word…(Bird, big bird.) “

” She had me at my worst … you had me at my best … at binale wala mo lang lahat yun.”

( I have a mental picture of my two younger sisters, the nurse and the law student gritting their teeth. But I know they are fans of ‘Poy and Bash. )

4. In the meantime, I love how it makes possible for an ordinary girl to get the attention of the likes of an Ayala or well, a Montenegro or The President’s son.

5 . Ultimately, the farmer’s son gets to marry the haciendera. ( plus of course large tracts of land that go with everything else. )

( Discontinue reading if it may affect your inner peace and/or you suspect this may somehow threaten the entire core of humanity.)

6. The simple guy-best friend or the timid girl-best friend suddenly become GQ and FHM worthy.

7. Of course, there is always a gay friend, a crazy best friend and a whole barkada of the chippy or pringles eating generation driving a vintage car to Tagaytay City.

8. Strangely enough, it just seem so easy, to take off from the friend zone right into the romance zone.
( and solve x in the given equation : ” y oh y, bakit hindi ka crush ng crush mo? “)

9. The female protagonist will choose love over a high paying job.

10. There is great value placed on extended families just as it is in real Filipino life.

11. The popular girl does not get the guy.

12. The airport plays a very important role.

Billy ( My Only Love ) did not ride the plane on purpose.
Miggy ( It Takes A Man and A Woman ) proposed at the airport.
Eric , the president’s son ( Catch Me I’m In Love ) was going to the airport.

13. The wife wins the husband back. ( no matter how young and how deadly the vital statistics of the mistress may be.)

“Ano ang gagawin n’yo if you knew that the only man you loved is unfortunately married?! I’m not gonna give up Ram without rather putting up a God damn fight.”

” I can buy you, your friends and this club.”
( ooops, my bad…this is not a line from a movie, is it?)

14. It will always be that every ready slice of cake and glass of juice offered to the guest.

15. It affirms my husband’s love for me, for I tell him this:

” Kung talagang mahal mo ako, sasamahan mo ‘ko sa sinehan at manood ng premiere ng pelikula ni Lloydie.”

( Or as in my husband’s thoughts:
” in sickness and in health, till my guy friends will see me coming out of the movie house with a large poster of John Lloyd at the side ” .)

While I greatly love these pictures, take a good guess who is not a fan of me and these posters?

16. Destiny, fate and signs will always have a hand on the love story.

17. The harana still lives on, at least in the movies.

18. The grand search for that one true love remains. The person may be near or far. It may be the best friend, the mortal enemy, the girl in the rain or the guy in your dreams.)

19. It will always be the power of love through God’s grace.

20. It brings back once in a while, the kilig to the bones that we might need sometimes.

And of course all our love stories are beautiful and perfect. I would like to think that even my love story had all the elements of a Filipino romantic film.

Though it is neither a Romnick-Sheryl as in my favorite That’s Entertainment love team nor is my life a fairy tale but well, it has family, truth, friendship, fate and faith. It had the feels like that of romantic tagalog movies.

Always believe in love. Happy Sunday!http://thesoapboxfilipina.com/?p=94
