Last week meant, having to say goodbye to, a recent fixture, on Saturday prime-time television,
“Chardy and his dogs. “
It is more on a personal level for me, since Chardy, is after all, my son’s “dichack ” or uncle ( –who specifically is, the first, younger brother of my husband.)
( with my son)
He is the dad of my nephew, Nathan, and husband, to my beautiful sister-in-law, Avic.
He is family.
And most importantly, he is “Our Talentadong Pinoy.”
I also DO know, that many tele-viewers, who have been watching the reality show, for the past several weeks, were as heart-broken as my son, when Chardy did not make it to, “The Hall of Fame.” More so, if you happened to be either, a dog lover or simply a loving person, then last Saturday, would prove to be totally disheartening. Although Chardy himself, made a graceful exit, obviously, many of the televiewers, did not accept that ( …as it could clearly be surmised, from the feedbacks, written on some, social network pages, around.)
It was NOT the verdict, that many of us, hoped for. And perhaps NOW, you may be, one of the many, clamoring, that he be brought back, on the reality show.
A sixth win, which will elevate him to “Hall of Fame” status, was what many of us, wanted for Chardy.
And for that performance, a second win, for his jack russel, Skye.
However of course, while quite a cliché, a contest, will always have its winners and non-winners. And pointless indeed, in having actual judges, on a reality T.V. show, if we, the televiewers and audience, insist, with our choices and candidates. I must mention, of course, that I do hold high esteem, for the judges. Never, could I imagine my self, having to decide, on to whose talent, stood from the rest. Tough jobs, they have there.
And surely, as we in the audience, lingered, in our bewilderment, the judges clearly knew which criterion, Chardy, MAY have not fulfilled. Yet, what was there, ( or not there ) that we have failed to see, REALLY. Reality television shows, obviously, were created to entertain and inform, the viewing Filipino audience.
We “viewed” the talents that were showcased, and we “watched”, how they were pitted against one another. Even if the judges or the jurors, strangely, did not see, the talent that abounded with possibilities, we, as televiewers, DO actually know in our hearts, as to who, had,
– made us smile,
– lifted our spirits,
– imparted knowledge and
– TRULY ENTERTAINED US.
There are those, whose talents have higher potential, bigger room for improvements and then, there are some. I surely do not agree, with, him having lost to…
– well, I JUST DON’T.
It blurs the word , “talent ” to oblivion. While of course, promoting further confusion, as to whatever, the show stood for, and what it was trying to convey to the viewers. And I am pretty sure, that a huge population of those “Saturday Viewers” have fallen in love with Skye, Cheska,Yuri and Andi.
Unfortunately, “reality” check, though, I am not one of the judges, of the “reality” show.
Neither do I, own the television station and nor do I, have direct access to Mr. Manny Pangilinan, himself. Since, I am not privy to the jurors’ and the judges’ minds, I remain a bit disappointed and confused, as what “reality”, really means. ( And also, I certainly am, entitled to my own opinion.)
BUT two things prove clear, as daylight:
FIRST, this surely, would not be, the last that we will see, of “Chardy and his dogs.”
( The facebook page: Skye, Yuri and the Border Collies, may provide you information about their activities.)
(and sometimes, Chardy does some volunteer works, for P.A.W.S. )
SECOND, prime-time television during Saturdays, will never be the same.
Therefore,
“Ladies and gentlemen, once again, my Talentadong Pinoy and yours, Mr. Chardy Ang.”
