This school year, my son, once again, joined an elocution/public speaking contest.
The result of the competition, will still be announced, in November.
But whatever the outcome is -us, his parents, are already, very proud of him.
All because, first, he was among the 15, of around 170 grade-one students, who participated in the contest.
Second, he is now a bit comfortable, with speaking in public.
Last year, he joined the same contest, but he was too frightened and his voice was barely heard by the audience.
While this year, he had a certain air of confidence.
We could never be prouder of our son.
My husband and I, were also very fortunate that my son had teachers, last year, namely, Teacher Angel and Miss Belle, who encouraged him, to keep on joining school contests.
My husband and I, also wanted him, to get over that feeling, from having lost in a contest.
So, we encouraged him to join school contests, last year.

The AmSpeak for Kidz! Class at Mind Specialists School in D. Tuazon, Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City.
Last summer, with the aim of building up, our son’s confidence in public speaking, we enrolled him in a class called, “AmSpeak for Kidz!“
The class taught children to express themselves fluently and naturally. The children became more confident, as English speakers and communicators.
I was excited to share the advantage of that “AmSpeak” summer, right after the classes ended.
During the culminating activity, of the summer class, you see children, including my son, confidently expressing themselves, in front of the public.
But I waited for the opportunity, when our son could showcase what he learned that summer.
Thus, the elocution contest this year.
The AmSpeak for Kidz class was born, from the partnership of Mind Specialists School with OSA Training and Education which goes a long way back, to 2005.
It was when OSA, was training the teachers of the school, on English Proficiency and Effective Communication in Teaching Content Areas.
According to Mr. Orlando Agawin of OSA, it was after that training, when Mind Specialists School‘s Mommy Ems, “expressed her interest in coming up with a Communications course for their students, which could be helpful for language development and confidence building”.
AmSpeak for Kidz! , started as weekend course for selected students and eventually became a regular Summer Course in 2006.
AmSpeak for Kidz! developed confidence in my son.
My son’s delivery of his elocution piece in grade 1, were all his own.
I only coached him, into speaking louder but the actions and all, were thought of, by him.
Thank you Teacher Jary and Teacher Orly.
