The Book Ship Logos Hope Docks in Subic
Logos Hope, the largest floating bookstore in the world, operated by Good Books for All has docked at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Logos Hope has a crew of around 330 international volunteers from 50 different countries. They bring with them, around five thousand books.
Yesterday, June 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM, on the ship’s first day in Subic, my husband decided to bring us there.
The last time Logos Hope docked in the Philippines, in the Port of Manila, it was just me and my husband who went.
My first experience of a floating bookstore was when I was in grade four. My mom, my sister and I went up the MV Doulos when it docked in Cagayan de Oro City, years ago.
That feeling of “everything huge, wide and plenty while surrounded by books” , I wanted my son to experience.
And boy, he did!
(check out the smile on our seven-year old)
There were only few people, when we went there on the first day. My husband and I observed that there were lots of children, more than adults.
Aside from the great number of books ( at a BARGAIN) , my husband and I enjoyed watching children ( including my son) browsing hungrily through books.
The books on this shelf are at P100.00 each!!!!♥♥♥
yes, P100 each and we brought some of them home♥♥♥
one of the books my husband bought at P500

Location
MV Logos Hope is docked at The Riviera Pt of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Entrance to Riviera Pt is at Schley Rd. cor. Washington St.
( but I think the best way is from Rizal Highway, then left on Burgos St then left on Schley Rd.)
We were told by the guard that parking was not allowed along Schley Rd. nor Dewey Ave.
So, we had to park our car near Meat Plus Restaurant and the Duty Free Shopping Center along Sampson Road.
We had to walk going to the port entrance.
From the port’s entrance, we had to walk again, going to the ship.
With the scorching sun these days, bring umbrellas and caps, if you plan to visit Subic, on a day trip.
But temperature is a bit cooler inside the ship -with its powerful air conditioning.
Ruben from Mexico, talked about life as a volunteer for Logos Hope.
He also pointed out on the map, the places the ship has visited.
The crew of MV Logos Hope are volunteers. They stay on the ship for two years. Most of them knew about the ship through their churches.
[important]UPDATE[/important]
We went to the ship again, on a Sunday. We were a big group this time. We came with my son’s Amah Nette ( my husband’s mother), my sister, Pia and my son’s aunts and cousins from my husband’s side of the family :
I’ve always wanted to go there! Hope they come back to Manila next time!

Thank you for sharing this info. I missed the last time Logos Hope was in Manila and I definitely won’t miss this one!
