Last month, my husband’s brother lend him his legendary pass for TOYCON 2016. While my son and I, each had the one day pass at P500.
The place was surrounded with all kinds of toys, from Super Mario, Marvel and D.C. characters, Star Wars, Old Coca-Cola toys to Disney Dolls.
It was the first ever toy convention for me. It was the third for my son and the fifth time for my husband.
Well, apart from the bags filled with toys that come home with them, I wanted to experience ( if not understand) what exactly happens in a toy convention.
Or why the rest of my small family ( meaning my husband and my son) look forward to see this every year.
Luckily for me, it was the 15th anniversary of TOYCON Philippines.
The organizers prepared something big.
From June 10-12, the SMX Convention Center was filled with so much activities for the three-day toy convention.
In partnership with Pop! Life Entertainment, the toy convention was dubbed as, “ToyCon 2016 + Pop Life FanXperience”.
They invited local and international celebrity guests who performed on stage. The guests also did some fan signing on the sides.
A wide variety of toys, games, movies, cosplay, anime, collectibles and exhibitions were put on display while international cosplay competitions were also being held.
Brands like Marvel, Star Wars, DC, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Cartoon Network, NBA were showcased.
Works of Stan Lee, movies and the like plus memorabilia and toys were assembled for Stan Lee enthusiasts ( like my husband and my son) to marvel upon.
I am glad something of this sort, is being organized.
It brings together, a great bunch of toy enthusiasts Iike my husband and my son, and speak “toy” language to one another, even for a day.
As for the not-so-toy-enthusiasts ( but married to one and a mother to one) like me, it was a very informative day for me.
I enjoyed the fact that international cosplay competitions were going on.
I was greatly entertained by a number of cosplayers who were roaming around the venue.
It was fun for me, checking out some merchandise while ” Mystic” was on my left and “ Spiderman” was checking out “his” collectibles.
Or that Storm troopers abound and Anakin was outnumbered.
I think I am already looking forward, to the next Toy Convention.
Till the next!
